“One of the most famous wines and drunk in Campania, Falanghina is certainly a very old vine, native to the foot of Taburno and some decades is famous also performed in Sant'Agata de’ Goths. Many scholars take for certain that it was cultivated in Roman times, much to suggest that the ancient wine Falanghina descends Falernum Gauranum, or white Falerno GAURO, conosciuto come “vino degli imperatori”, descritto entusiasticamente da Plinio il Vecchio, Orazio, Virgilio e Cicerone. The grape is the most common of the province of Benevento, its historical range up to thirty years ago were the towns of Maldon and Benevento, where vines surviving trees.”
